In developing ourselves to become professional persons in our field, it would be good if we first studied the fundamental aspects of building our professionalism as competent individuals in our field and making our profession our self-image. In this increasingly advanced era, competition is getting tougher; many people fail to achieve their dreams because they do not need achievement, which is the main need in developing themselves to become a professional.

In social life in society, the state, and the international level, a system is needed to regulate how people should get along. The social regulation system becomes mutual respect, known as politeness, etiquette, protocol, etc.

The purpose of social guidelines is to safeguard the interests of each person involved so that they are happy, calm, peaceful, and protected without harming their interests and ensure that applicable customs carry out their actions and do not conflict with general human rights. This is what underlies the growth and development of ethics in our society.

According to experts, ethics is nothing other than rules of behavior and human habits in interacting with each other and confirming what is right and bad. The word ethics, also called ethics, comes from the Greek word ETHOS, which means norms, values, rules, and standards for good human behavior, as formulated by the following experts: Drs. O.P. According to Peter Jarvis (1983:21), a profession is a job based on intellectual study and special training, aiming to provide skilled services to others for a certain fee or wage.

Generally, purchasing staff establish procurement policies and procedures to ensure the company can operate with integrity and marketability. Apart from that, purchasing staff's task is keeping operations running smoothly because they monitor the supply chain and handle several tasks, such as negotiating contracts with vendors, assessing the quality and price of goods, coordinating logistics, and so on. The role of purchasing staff in a company can be different, depending on the type and size of the organization.

  1. Carrying out procurement tasks orderly, with a form of responsibility, so that it runs smoothly and appropriately to achieve procurement goals.
  2. Work with professionalism and honesty so that company documents are kept confidential.
  3. Uphold honor, integrity, honesty, and dignity of the procurement profession.
  4. Prevent and avoid unhealthy competition by not influencing each other.
  5. Accept and be responsible for all decisions made by both parties.
  6. Purchasing professionals must develop and promote positive supplier and customer relationships.
  7. Avoid and prevent abuse of authority, such as collusion to gain personal, group or party benefits in procurement.
  8. Eliminate culture and do not compromise on corruption, collusion and nepotism activities.
  9. Do not accept or offer gifts or rewards to other parties.
  10. Purchasing professionals must know and comply with regulations, laws, and trade agreements applicable to supply management.
